hi,
I'm Gia

I help Charities, non-for-profits, and CICs dial in their creative strategy to create campaigns and experiences that make people want to throw money them.

Visual imagery and storytelling that's impactful and persuasive so your work gets the funding it needs.

For the Baroque Ball, I concepted the Portrait Lounge based on the signature aesthetic of the Baroque period. We wanted to keep a darker palette with rich tones and a painterly lighting that sculpted guests and reflected the romance and glamour of the time. I worked with Anthropologie on the set fabrication, which created a beautiful experience for individuals and groups.

The Portrait Lounge was open for an hour during the reception and for 90 minutes after the programme. In that time, I positioned and coached guests into exuding their most powerful selves. We supported the Opera in raising over 1 million with the event. The imagery was used in press, which in part let to the next gala raising over 2 million.

The 2019 Adidas global pride campaign was a chance to work with a wonderful crew and highlight creative juggernauts of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. As the photographer and director for the campaign, I was able to utilise light, color, and dynamic compositions to highlight these amazing individuals and the price collection they wore.

Post Process:
Images go through my signature post-processing. Outtakes are edited out to ensure everyone looks stunning in all final portraits. They are then run through my retouching protocol I developed over years that gives each image the same care as we would in a magazine. After, I scan for any special images that need additional support to ensure that everyone is thrilled with the final result.

Sharing:
Images are delivered in an online album to be shared with guests. Downloadable images are watermarked with the event name and credits. In addition, there is a second album without a watermark for guests to use to order prints (this album is not downloadable).

Feedback:
In the 10 years of creating Portrait Lounges, the majority of individuals still have portraits shared on their profiles. I've had many guests say that they attended for the first time after seeing the images from the year before. Portrait Lounges are a powerful way of setting galas a part, of creating visibility for the event, and generating interest for future galas. Many people have thanked me for having the opportunity to have this quality of imagery.

PORTRAIT LOUNGES

After attending multiple galas, I was struck by how many fabulously-dressed people came away with suboptimal photo-booth images. After taking inspiration from after party editorial sessions at the Oscars Vanity Fair party, I decided to create "Portrait Lounges." It is a unique idea of bringing the high-end editorial portraits to galas that creates a luxurious experience while attending, but leaves guests with sharable images that create visibility for the event long after it's over.

Concepting:
Each portrait lounge is concepted with the organisation and designed to reflect their aesthetic and theme. I then light and style the set often with collaborators brought onto the project (if the budget allows). I create a signature lighting style and colour palette that evokes glamour and  luxury.

During the Event:
Guests are directed to the Portrait Lounge through signage and cue where they are given a photo release and told what to expect. Then I introduce myself and position them and adjust their body language to be as beautiful as possible. I then make their portrait and continue to the next group. This process is achieved in 1min, meaning that within 2 hours, we can photograph hundreds of guests. Often the Portrait Lounge is open during the arrival reception and then again after the official programme.

From concepting, strategising, designing, and delivering, you drive the mission and I'll translate that into powerful visual messaging and experiences that set your organisation apart.
